Forest School Azerbaijan uses an educational approach that utilizes nature as a learning environment. We are inviting kids, teens, and adults to participate in our consistent, weekly sessions at a specified Forest School outdoor location.
While adopting learning and teaching practices that promote self-worth, confidence, independence, and language and communication abilities, children study the extra curriculum in an outdoor environment.
Outside, kids are innately driven. Their curiosity about learning and discovery is sparked by the natural environment. When we are truly interested in what we are doing, we all learn more effectively.
Many kids and teenagers like and benefit from having a practical component to their education, and they succeed more in this setting than they would in a conventional classroom.
The main age groups are 3-5, 6-10.
Forest School Azerbaijan provides the opportunity for holistic learning, or the development of many aspects of oneself at the same time. Because of the nature of the activities, children are able to learn about teamwork and communication, as well as develop skills in ways that the classroom environment does not provide. It also accepts and caters to the diverse nature and needs of children.
The Forest School Azerbaijan pedagogy-leader provides an environment that has been risk-assessed based on the group’s needs and nature. The leader also thinks about the long-term impact of the sessions on the environment, i.e. the site and surrounding areas, including access paths.
Parks and Outdoor Areas
2 hours session during the weekend. Totally 4 meetings, 8 hours per month.
Forest School can increase a child’s confidence and self-esteem through exploration, problem solving, and being encouraged to learn how to assess and take appropriate risks depending on their environment. The use of learner-led outcomes means information is retained better and also generally increases curiosity and motivation to learn in general. This motivation can have a positive impact on attitude to learning in school.
Our weekly meetings include:
Embedded within Forest School is awareness and appreciation of the natural world. Sessions are intended to take place in a natural environment, ideally with trees, enabling use and interaction with natural materials in activities. The outdoor environment is key to providing a different situation for children, where the space is contained but not constrained.
